Hans Stråberg

 
Hans Stråberg has broad leadership experience in running a multinational consumer goods company which early on had to deal with global sustainability issues. In 2002-2010, Hans Stråberg was President and Chief Executive Officer of AB Electrolux, after holding various leading positions, such as Executive Vice President, Frigidaire Home Products, Electrolux, USA;  Head of Floor Care Products; and Head of Dishwashers and Washing Machines. Currently he is member of the Board of Directors of  Investor AB, Stora Enso Oyj, Roxtec AB, The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, The Association of Swedish Engineering Industries and Member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).

Speech abstract

Electrolux has a broad international experience of environmental challenges and of developing sustainable and industrially sound innovations with customer needs and value creation in focus. The speech will draw on this experience and other industry cases, and compare the merits of market- versus policy-driven innovations in the US and Europe. The importance of incentives both for environmentally friendly product developments and for replacement of unsustainable products will be discussed, as well as the need to incentivize user groups as well as manufacturers. Finally a few suggestions will be provided regarding management of innovation for sustainability, and for further research.
