Mobile Robotics and Vehicles
New products tend to have more intelligence than before in response to increased requirements for efficiency, driven by economics, safety, and environmental requirements. This trend to introduce varying degrees of automation applies to a wide range of products, but is particularly true in vehicles such as construction machinery, road vehicles, and aircraft.
Research in this area is applied to mobile robots where the division has several platforms. There is also research into applying sensor system and control systems, and novel actuators for trucks. These system are characterised by the fact that they can benefit from hardware software co-design.
Furtheremore, in the vehicle area we are also looking into novel drive concepts such as electric and hydraulic hybrids. This has been implemented in light vehicles.
