Research
Joakim is an expert in Material and Substance Flow Analysis with special interest in analyzing the environmental performance of waste management strategies. His research involves studies in the intersection between environmental systems analysis and environmental management, emphasising what driving forces determine the actions of companies. At present, he is the leader of two recently initiated projects on urban mining and landfill mining respectively. In common for both these projects, is the overall aim to identify, develop and evaluate strategies for extracting valuable material and energy resources from alternative sources such as the built environment and waste deposits.
Education
Joakim is the examinator for the course Large Technical Systems and the Environment and the coordinator for the two years master's program Energy and Environmental Engineering. He is also teaching in several other courses at the department such as Industrial ecology.
Cooperation with Industry and Society
His research is characterized by a close collaboration with different actors belonging to different societal sectors such as infrastructure managers, material and energy companies, waste management and recycling contractors and so on.
